Albany hasmore than 3 million square feet of available industrial space. The communityhas Tier One status and has three designated military zones that allow forenhanced job tax credits.
The quality of life enjoyed by the community's nearly 95,000 residents stems from a variety of sources, including a thriving arts and cultural scene, greenspace and abundant waterways, sports, and entertainment.
Theatre Albany and Albany Symphony Orchestra, south Georgia’s only professionalorchestra, has been delighting people for decades. The Albany Museum of Art is the permanent home of the South’s largest collection of Sub-SaharanAfrican art. At Thronateeska HeritageCenter, tour the old Train Depot,History Museum and Science Center, orexperience the newly-renovated Wetherbee Planetarium, one of just 12planetariums in the state and the only such facility in the region. The Albany Civil Rights Institute chroniclesthe city’s historic place in the national Civil Rights Movement.
The city/county enjoys quality education via the Dougherty County School System, multiple private schools, and three institutions of higher learning - Albany State University, Darton College and Albany Technical College. Also located here are campuses of LaGrange College and Troy University.
